Vision

The vision of the Society of Toxicologic Pathology (STP) is to be an international leader for improvement of human, animal, and environmental health using an interdisciplinary scientific approach based in pathology and toxicology. This vision will be accomplished through four primary goals: recruitment, advocacy, globalization, and education.

Mission

STP was founded in 1971 as a nonprofit association of pathologists and other scientists whose principal aim is the advancement of pathology as it pertains to changes elicited by pharmacological, chemical, or environmental agents and factors that modify these responses. The Society’s 1,250 members in over 20 countries are scientists and professionals who work in academic institutions, government, the pharmaceutical and chemical industry, or contract research organizations or as consultants. They are dedicated to integrating toxicologic pathology into hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk communication regarding human and animal exposure to potentially toxic substances. STP provides expert guidance to legislative and regulatory decision-makers regarding toxicologic pathology data and human or animal health.

Vision

The vision of the Toxicology Forum is to be recognized as the leading international toxicology organization that promotes and encourages open dialogue among government agencies, industry, academia, policymakers, and public interest groups concerned with public health issues; such interactions will facilitate sound policy decisions that protect and promote public health.

Mission

The mission of the Toxicology Forum is to encourage open dialogue on human health and environmental issues that drive public concerns, academic involvement, industry action, and regulatory decision-making. This is accomplished through organizing and conducting meetings among government granting and regulatory agencies, the scientific community (academia, government, and industry), and public interest groups. The dialogue at these meetings facilitates the resolution of conflicts, identifies research gaps, drives research agendas, and promotes sound regulatory and policy decision-making. The proceedings from meetings of the Toxicology Forum are made publicly available. The Toxicology Forum always strives to provide balanced programs, does not advocate for any particular scientific or policy position discussed during their meetings, and does not attempt to reach consensus from the discussions and presentations. The Toxicology Forum encourages participation in their forums from scientific and policy experts in government, industry, academia, and consumer interest groups, and they provide the necessary infrastructure support to accomplish this mission.
